DJ magazine's Top 100 DJs poll is the most anticipated event in the global dance music calendar. DJs, promoters and clubbers the world over use the results as a gauge of a DJs international popularity and visibility to say the results are hugely anticipated is an understatement of immense proportions.
Because of the nature of the Top 100, the reach of the poll is vast. Outside of the magazines traditional routes of publicity, the viral reach is huge. Most DJs worth their salt spend considerable energies campaigning for people to vote for them in the Top 100 via databases, Myspace etc, so that in late summer and into autumn the Top 100 is the event on everybodys lips.
In 2006, 217,000 legitimate votes came from 229 different countries. We anticipate that this figure will increase again this year, and on Wednesday 24th October 3000 clubbers will gather at the SeOne club in London to discover who will be the worlds No. 1 DJ for 2007.
